October 12, 2005 : Co. 8 Units, Ambulance 89 and Rescue Engine 83 provided a mutual aide response to Washington County on Interstate 70 at the 36 mile marker for an overturned tractor trailer. Units found one tractor trailer in the woods with no injuries or hazards.
October 16, 2005 : Ambulance 89, Rescue Engine 83 and Ambulance 79(Middletown) responded to a motor vehicle crash on Interstate 70 at the 46 mile marker, units found a two vehicle accident with one trauma. Maryland State Police Trooper 3 transported one priority 2 patient to Washington County Trauma Center. Many thanks to the Washington County Photo-team for the great photos.
July 18, 2005: Two Killed On Interstate 70....MYERSVILLE -- Drug and alcohol use may have contributed to a crash that killed two men in a 2001 Ford Ranger when their truck hit a parked tractor-trailer along the eastbound lanes of I-70 east at the South Mountain rest area about 3:30 a.m. Monday, Maryland State Police said.

October 10, 2004: Car plunges 50' off I-70 Bridge....At 4:50 am on Sunday, October 10, 2004 Rescue Engine 83, Ambulance 89 and Washington County Medic 69 were dispatched for a vehicle accident reported serious. After response, Chief 8 (Wayne Neal) was advised that the incident was upgraded to a car plunging off Interstate 70 onto Monument Road with one ejected and one trapped. Chief 8 arrived on scene and confirmed the report. Rescue Engine 83 arrived and quickly stabilized the vehicle so the crew from Ambulance 89 could begin treatment on the patient that was ejected. After the ejection patient was stabilized and moved to the ambulance, the crew from Rescue Engine 83 extricated the second patient in 20 minutes. Additional ambulances and medic units from Washington County and Frederick City were dispatched along with Maryland State Police Trooper 3 and 8. Both patients were flown priority 1 to Washington County Trauma Center for stabilization and treatment. After stabilization, one patient was flown to the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.
This is not the first time this has happened, three years ago a vehicle plunged from Interstate 70 onto Monument Road. One patient was killed and one was seriously injured.
May 10, 2004: Vehicle Accident with Entrapment on I-70......On Monday May 10, 2004 at 0840 the Myersville Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to a one vehicle accident with one trapped and the vehicle on fire on Interstate 70 at the 41 mile marker. Units arrived at 0851 and confirmed on trapped with no fire. Heavy Rescue Engine 83 had the extrication. The patient was extricated and packaged by 0910. Units cleared at 0948. Units from Myersville, Middletown, Frederick County Advanced Life Support and Maryland State Police Trooper 3 were on scene. Trooper 3 transported priority 2 to Washington County Hospital.
October 16, 2003: I-70 Tractor Trailer crash with entrapment.....At 0225 hours a tractor trailer heading West Bound on I-70 at the 38 mile marker lost control and struck an unoccupied vehicle, the tractor trailer spun around and rolled on its side and down an embankment.
Upon arrival units found one occupant still entrapped in the tractor with major stabilization problems. A second rescue unit was called for assistance with stablization. Rescue Engine 74 out of Middletown (Co. 7) hooked their winch to the frame of the truck and applied pressure to ensure that it would not slide further down the hill.
Thanks to the agressive yet safe operations of the members of Myersville Volunteer Fire Company the patient was extricated and packaged for transport in 38 minutes. The patient was flown via Maryland State Police Trooper 3 to Washington County Hospital Trauma Center where they were treated and released.
July 26, 2003: Joint effort rescues three year old girl......
As reported in the Herald Mail, a three year old girl was saved from near drowning thanks to a joint effort of citizens, Myersville Volunteer Fire Company, Frederick County Medic Unit and Maryland State Police aviation.
Ambulance 89, Rescue Engine 82, and Medic 2 from Frederick City were dispatched for a drowning in the 10000 block of Harmony Road just outside of Myersville. Units arrived to find a young girl conscious and semi-alert. Reports received were that she was found submerged in the pool. She was removed quickly from the pool and administered rescue breathing by citizens on the scene. This quickly revived her. Chief 8 arrived on scene and spoke to the Emergency Medical Technicians who responded to the scene. It was decided that the Maryland State Police, Trooper 3 would transport the patient to Johns Hopkins Children's Center in Baltimore.
The young girl is doing well thanks to everyone involved, this was truly a joint effort that everyone can be proud of.
